Tools and Resources

Canva

Canva is an enterprise-level design template platform that allows users to easily create social media graphics, presentations, posters and other visual content using approved UC Davis colors, fonts and logos. Units within the Division of Student Affairs are provided one seat in the UC Davis enterprise account. You can find SAMC's Canva training video on Youtube. Additional seats may be purchased by departments using the Strategic Communications registration form

Creative Brief

A Creative Brief is the best tool for articulating the purpose and vision for a creative product. Use this tool to guide your work and ensure it aligns with the UC Davis brand.

Editorial Calendar Templates

This Editorial Calendar template gives you one place to organize your messaging needs, which saves you time when it comes to writing. It is set up to give you a full year overview, which allows you to better strategize and helps ensure that you are not reinventing the wheel every year. It can also be used for more detailed content writing and planning.

Electronic Mass Communication Form

Campus units must request permission to send mass emails to UC Davis students. To obtain a list of current students emails, you must complete the Electronic Mass Communication Form and receive approval BEFORE submitting your data request. Learn more about the process and relevant policies.

Logos

All Student Affairs wordmarks, unit signatures, graphic elements and programmatic brands are available to use in your Canva Enterprise accounts. You can also download individual files for official UC Davis purposes from Google Drive.

Marketing Plan Template

Use this marketing plan template to define the objectives, strategies and tactics for a marketing campaign or event promotion. Taking the time to develop one during the early planning stages is usually a good idea. It will serve as your central reference document throughout the campaign, helping to keep track of progress and keep everyone on the same page.

Meta Business Suite

Meta Business Suite is a free tool that centralizes Facebook, Instagram and messaging tools in one place so you can save time and create connections with more people. This is the tool that SAMC uses and recommends to draft, schedule, manage and measure social media efforts.

Photoshelter (Photo, Video and Audio)

Photoshelter is the online campus photo, video and audio collection and is for general use by the campus community. Assets include campus scenes, buildings, events and classroom and laboratory environments. High-resolution files may be downloaded for free to use on the web or in publications, reports and presentations. UC Davis users can log in using their UC Davis Login ID and Kerberos passphrase.

PowerPoint Templates

Every communication distributed on behalf of your unit helps build the UC Davis brand, including PowerPoint presentations. Use any of these Student Affairs branded templates when creating a PowerPoint. These templates are also available through your Canva account.

Social Media Content Plan Template

This Social Media Content Plan template is a document to help you plan your social media content. It has been built for both individual campaigns and year-long planning.

Sprinklr

Sprinklr is an enterprise-level social media management tool that provides a platform for social media communicators to draft, schedule, manage, measure and report social media content. The platform provides workflow management, community management and engagement, all in a single, secure platform. If you are interested in purchasing this tool, please contact Strategic Communications.

Student Affairs Marketing and Communications (SAMC)

SAMC is here to provide strategic support or consultation for marketing, communications and branding projects across the Division of Student Affairs. If you have a project that you would like SAMC to lead, you can request a project here. If you are looking for consultation or advice on any projects, channels or initiatives, you can sign up for individual office hours for design, content, social media, web or general outreach strategies using our office hours form. For web edits, troubleshooting and non-development related requests, use the web updates request form.

SAMC also manages many divisional channels (newsletters, LCD screens, myUCDavis Updater, social media channels, etc.) that serve current students. To submit news, events, announcements or updates to these channels, you can request an LCD to have your message displayed on campus screens, and you can share news directly with us for consideration on our various channels.

Trumba

Trumba is the system for UC Davis’ central calendaring and event listing needs, which can also be used in your SiteFarm site. Student Affairs units will have the ability to directly enter and edit their events without additional layers of approval and wait times.

Zoom Backgrounds

Zoom backgrounds can be more than just a photo. Here you will find a collection of backgrounds to download that highlight the Division of Student Affairs.
